Signal Processing - Multi element Sensors and Sensory Percussion

Multi element Sensors and Sensory Percussion

This is a kind of a technology which is developed by Roland in their own V-drums. A great playing feel is supplied to the user by capturing the  performance of the information accurately and quickly. This method is actually developed for western drum instrument.

Roland's new multi element sensors faithfully detects and recreates the position and the dynamics of the user. Which means it actually detects the hit for the different parts of the drum and generates the most suitable sound from the source which tallies with the hit. In the drum device which is to be produced by HEX is also a kind of the same phenomenon. When the user hits the different parts of the head of the drum not the same sound should be produced. They must be different from one to another.

As the Roland Corporation states the high speed data transfer is very important in the device. Which means the time between the hit and the result generated must be very short. And also the cross stick sensors which are present in Roland drum kit detects a rim shot and also it adjusts its volume accordingly how hard the rim is being hit by the user.

Sensory percussion concept depict about a hardware component which is attached to a drum and connects with a software on a PC in order to produce sounds real time. It is also a hardware component consist of a multi element sensor and detects where and how the head of the drum is hit by the user.
