Signal Processing - Introduction

 Introduction

Article 01 :

In the Drum Device (DD) three sensors are present in order to capture the interactions of the user which are namely The Pressure Sensor(PS)Acceleration Sensor(AS) and the Gesture Sensor(GS)

These sensors produce impulses according to the interaction of the user with the DD.

Sensors
are “Input” devices which convert one type of energy or quantity into an electrical analogue signal.

A sound waveform has the same characteristics as that of an electrical waveform which are
Wavelength (λ), Frequency (ƒ) and Velocity (m/s).

The frequency, the wave length and the velocity of a single wave should be calculated according to the magnitude of each input reading.

Before Generating a sound signal, all inputs from PS, AS and GS should be taken into consideration as PS detects the place where the hand hits on the drum head, a AS detects the speed of the hand which hits the drum head while the GS detects the style which the hand hits the drum head.

Transducers and Actuators

Transducer are devices which convert one type of energy into another, such as electrical energy into light or sound, or creates an electrical output corresponding to some physical parameter

The transducers which are present in the DD are the three sensing components. In other Words transducers convert one kind of energy into an electrical impulse.

Actuators act vice-versa of the transducers. They convert an electrical signal into corresponding physical quantity such as light, sound, etc….

The transducer present in the so called drum device is a speaker or may be headphones. The sound signals processed according to the electrical impulses which were generated according to the input energy forms are presented to the user through the speaker.
