Signal Transduction
Signal Transduction
The Drum Device is generated in a way that a sound signal is produced as the final output from analogue electrical signals which have being transducted from the three sensors,Touch/Pressure,Accelaration and Gesture.
The touch or pressure sensors are present on the surface of the drum head or batter part and they sense the specific area to which the force is applied.Depending on different areas where the force is applied, the signals produced are transducted into analogue electrical signals with relavant to each area.
The acceleration sensors possess sensing components which are sensitive to the speed of the hand movements. They detect the speed and then convert it into analogue electrical signals.
The gesture sensors with specific sensing componebrs detect at what planes that the hand/fingers hit the drum head and then again convert it into an analogue electrical signal.
Finally all these analogue electrical signals produced from the three sensors,touch/pressure,acceleration and gesture are obtained and their summation is converted in to a sound signal after being sending through an actuator and finally emitted trough the speakers.
In this way,the drum detects which sound should be produced when a specific area of the drum head is touched with a specific speed of the hands and specific gesture.
